SANTA ANA—Orange County reported 361 new cases of COVID-19 and 33 additional deaths Feb. 14, bringing the county’s totals to 242,505 cases and 3,577 fatalities since the pandemic began. Hospitalizations due to the coronavirus continued to fall sharply in Orange County, declining from 839 Feb. 13 to 790, with the number of coronavirus patients in intensive care dropping from 270 to 257, according to the Orange County Health Care Agency. Of the 33 newly reported deaths, four were residents of skilled nursing facilities and two were residents of assisted living facilities. Since the pandemic began, 900 skilled nursing facility residents have died, along with 400 residents of assisted living facilities. The death reports are staggered because they come from a variety of sources and are not always logged immediately.
