There are more questions than answers about the likely thousands of Afghans who are coming to Wisconsin. The Pentagon on Tuesday said 22,000 Afghan refugees will be sent to military bases in Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin. The Wisconsin base is Fort McCoy. Gov. Evers said he will welcome the Afghans. “Just as they protected us in serving our country and helped keep our troops safe, we owe it to them to protect and keep them safe,” the governor said in a statement. No one knows just how many refugees will end up in Wisconsin. And no one knows for sure where they will go after arriving at Fort McCoy. Rep. Tom Tiffany (R-Wis.) says he has concerns about what we don’t know. “I am deeply disturbed by reports that as many as 5,000 Afghans per day are headed to the United States—many without valid visas or even basic identity documents. …
