Water is essential to life. In fact, it’s often called the most essential of all nutrients.
It’s estimated that water makes up 60 to 70 percent of the human body, so it stands to reason that proper hydration is essential to good health.
But as you go about your day, you lose water through the body’s natural processes, such as respiration, perspiration, urination, and bowel movements. Certain foods, such as sweets, as well as certain beverages, such as alcohol or coffee, can increase the excretion of water from your body.
