Vice President Kamala Harris is headed to the southern border of the United States on Friday. Harris is set to travel to El Paso, Texas, her office said. The trip is part of her job of addressing the root causes of migration from El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras. President Joe Biden tasked Harris with dealing with the root causes earlier this year. She will be accompanied by Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. The sites Harris will visit have not been outlined. Whether the press will have access also is not clear. Harris has not been to the border since becoming vice president and has repeatedly laughed when asked when she would visit.
