The U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) are under fire after the USCP inspector general opened an investigation into allegations that the department illegally broke into the offices of GOP members of Congress, interviewed GOP staffers, and took photos of documents that were protected under congressional rules. The USCP has been blasted for its behavior on Jan. 6, 2021. According to a recent lawsuit, USCP officers beat an unarmed, nonviolent female protestor named Victoria White during the “Stop the Steal” rally, striking her over 40 times. White was a recovering domestic abuse survivor, and according to her lawyer the incident has brought to the fore many unwelcome memories for White.
