Thousands of workers have rallied outside Western Australia’s state parliament, warning the McGowan government a protracted battle over public sector pay is far from over.
Unions representing health workers, police officers and other public sector workers turned out in force on Wednesday despite stormy weather in Perth.
The alliance of workers is pushing for a five percent pay rise to combat rising inflation and cost of living pressures.
WA’s government had initially offered a 2.75 percent increase but last month upped the offer to three percent, along with an additional $2500 sign-on bonus.
It was rejected by the alliance, which vowed to press ahead with industrial action….
