All children aged 5 to 11 will be offered vaccines for the CCP virus, the UK government said on Wednesday as its vaccination advisory body gave the green light. The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) on Wednesday published a report advising a “non-urgent offer” of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, also know as Comirnaty, to the primary schoolers so they may be protected “against severe COVID-19 in advance of a potential future wave of COVID-19.” There are an estimated 5.8 million 5- to 11-year-olds in the UK, but those in this age group who are clinically vulnerable or live with someone who is immunosuppressed have already been offered the shots.
