During CBC/Radio-Canada’s French-language television interviews with party leaders on Aug. 29, Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau blamed the former Conservative government for Canada’s greenhouse gas emissions. When asked about his climate policy, including why greenhouse gas emissions have increased in recent years under his party’s governance, Trudeau responded by blaming former prime minister Stephen Harper, and said his party’s new goal to slash greenhouse gas emissions by 40-45 percent below the 2005 level by 2030 will work.
