Nearly 10,000 tourists are trapped in a tourist town on China’s northern border after strict government lockdowns were implemented in response to recent COVID-19 outbreaks. Around 9,700 tourists are locked down in Dalaihob town of Inner Mongolia, according to a report from Chinese online news outlet The Paper on Oct. 26. Seventy-eight residents have tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus, commonly known as the novel coronavirus. A further 224 tourists from 11 provinces have also been infected in the outbreak. The provision of food and medical care is a major issue for the stuck tourists in the town of about 35,000 people.
