Kam Jones added 15 points for Marquette (14–4, 6–1 Big East), which has won five straight since a 103–98 double-overtime loss at No. 19 Providence.
UConn (15–3, 4–3) was coming off a 69–60 victory over Creighton after back-to-back road losses to Xavier and Providence.
Freshman Donovan Clingan had 20 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks for the Huskies. Alex Karaban added 17 points and Adama Sanogo had 10.
