A new report by Buzzfeed claims that China-based employees working for ByteDance have “repeatedly accessed nonpublic data about US TikTok users.” TikTok has said previously that it does not share user information with the Chinese regime, and that a “world-renowned U.S.-based security team that handles access.” A super pack funded by billionaire investor George Soros donated $300,000 to the campaign of a Democratic district attorney candidate who won a race in Maine. But the candidate’s campaign says she had no say on the PAC’s decision to get involved.
