Irvine is the safest city in Orange County, California, according to a recently-released study. The same report names Santa Ana as the county’s most dangerous city. The study, conducted by financial website MoneyGeek, reached its findings by analyzing FBI crime statistics, and ranked cities based on the cost of crime per resident. Not all U.S. cities were analyzed. As well as being ranked Orange County’s safest city, Irvine was hailed the second-safest city in the state, and the fifth safest in the nation. It had a crime cost of $194 per resident, with the nation’s lowest violent crime rate, and fifth-lowest property crime level. Orange County’s most dangerous city, Santa Ana, ranked the 50th safest city in the state, and 138th safest nationally.
