Commentary The red state/blue state dichotomy is not simple. Nowhere is that more apparent than Tennessee where—despite having one of the most conservative electorates in the country—the leadership has been passive at best in responding to the wishes of their supporters during these days of great crisis. That includes Governor Bill Lee who has been nowhere near as forthright—in fact has been retrograde on a number of issues—as the governors of other red states, yet for reasons unknown got an early endorsement from Donald Trump. The state legislature, in which Republicans have a super majority, hasn’t been much better.
