The main suspect in the investigation into missing British journalist Dom Phillips and indigenous expert Bruno Pereira has confessed to killing the men, a Brazilian police investigator said on Wednesday.
The suspect, 41-year-old fisherman Amarido da Costa de Oliveira, known locally as “Pelado,” led police to the remains, which are yet to be formally identified.
A second suspect, Amarido’s brother Oseney da Costa de Oliveira, also known as “Dos Santos,” denied involvement, police said.
Amarido was arrested on June 8. His brother Oseney was arrested on June 14.
