VALINDA, Calif.—A standoff between sheriff’s deputies and a barricaded suspect holed up inside a Valinda home was nearing 48 hours March 12, with no end in sight.
The incident began shortly before 2:30 p.m. Friday in the 16900 block of Wing Lane, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The location is just west of North Azusa Avenue near the City of Industry.
Deputies initially responded to the area on a report of a person firing shots at pedestrians, ABC7 reported.
Sheriff’s officials said deputies responding to the area came under fire, prompting them to shoot back. The suspect then barricaded inside a home. The department’s Special Enforcement Bureau was called to assist deputies as the standoff dragged into the evening….
