As the port backlog continues, some local business owners in Los Angeles County say they are concerned about product shortages ahead of the holiday season. Sandy Rosco, the executive director of the San Gabriel Chamber of Commerce, said Oct. 20, the businesses that are hurting the most are small-to-medium-sized because their owners don’t have the capital or the space to have bought and stocked up on products ahead of time. These businesses, she said, which survived during the pandemic, were counting on the Christmas shopping spree to get back on track. “All these businesses were hurt last year [and] are looking forward to this holiday season to make up for [the loss],” Rosco said.
