The Tokyo Olympic Torch Relay started in Japan on March 25. At the end of April, six staff members involved with the relay in Kagoshima Prefecture in southern Japan were confirmed to have tested positive for the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus, commonly known as the novel coronavirus. The organizers reminded all personnel involved to abide by epidemic control rules. The Tokyo Games have been postponed for one year due to the pandemic and are scheduled to begin on July 23.
