PORTLAND, Ore.—The audience loved Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Keller Auditorium on March 19. Craig Hanley, a computer scientist, and Sheryl Kingston, who works as a receptionist in a carpet store, enjoyed the performance. Hanley, who had been waiting two years to see the performance because of the lockdowns, liked that Shen Yun took a stand against communism. Shen Yun Performing Arts is based in New York and was formed by artists escaping from communist-run China to form a music and dance company. It brings to the world a taste of what Chinese traditional culture was like before communism took over and destroyed it. Hanley, who grew up in Germany, said traditions are important, especially in the modern world. “I think we have gotten too far in technology.
