SAN DIEGO—The San Diego Humane Society’s medical team celebrated the one-year cancer-free anniversary Friday of a former stray dog named Phoenix with a “pawty.” Held at the Pilar & Chuck Bahde Center for Shelter Medicine, the festive event included “a peanut butter cake, hats, cheers and, of course, lots of hugs and kisses for the star patient,” Humane Society officials said in a news release.
