Lou Barletta, a Republican endorsed by former President Donald Trump for a Senate seat in 2018, has announced he is running for governor of Pennsylvania. “I’m in! I’m running for Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania,” Barletta said in a tweet Monday. “We need bold leadership to help get Pennsylvanians back to work, our students back in the classroom, and our businesses booming again!” Barletta lost his bid for a Senate seat in 2018 to incumbent Sen. Bob Casey Jr. (D-Penn.). Prior to that, Barletta served as mayor of Hazelton, Pennsylvania, and represented the state in the House from 2011 to 2019. The incumbent Democrat governor of Pennsylvania, Tom Wolf, will not be running for reelection in 2022 due to term limits.
