Well-wishers gathered at the Balmoral Castle on Sunday said goodbye to Queen Elizabeth II as her coffin left her favourite residence on a six-hour journey to Edinburgh, where it will lie at St Giles’ Cathedral before being flown to London on Tuesday.
The date of the State Funeral has also been set for Sept. 19, which will be a bank holiday.
On Sunday morning, the hearse carrying the Queen’s coffin left the rural royal estate, where the 96-year-old monarch passed away on Sept. 8.
The oak coffin was draped with the Royal Standard of Scotland. A wreath placed on top was made up of flowers from the Balmoral estate, including sweet peas— one of the Queen’s favourites—dahlias, phlox, white heather, and pine fir….
