Quebec’s transport minister says a government program offering discounted flights to the province’s remote regions will begin Wednesday.
François Bonnardel said today that the program, which will cost $86 million over two years, will relaunch Quebec’s regional aviation sector and help the tourism industry in remote regions.
Residents of remote regions will be eligible for a rebate of between 30 and 60 percent when they buy tickets for in-province flights.
Those living elsewhere, including visitors from outside of Quebec, will be able to buy round-trip tickets to remote regions for $500 and one-way tickets for $250.
The general public will be limited to a maximum of three round trips, or six one-way tickets, and must start or end their flights at airports in Quebec City or the Montreal region….
