A proposed cannabis retail outlet located next to a youth centre and a community living space for special needs adults is raising eyebrows in Hanover, Ontario. Locals became aware of the issue after it was reported in the local newspaper that True North Cannabis Co. had filed an application with the province’s liquor and gaming commission for a store in that location. “It was just a little article talking about three applications for retail stores, and when I contacted one of the town councillors about it, they were as surprised as I was,” said Greg Dow, executive director of Bruce Grey Mentorship, which runs year-round programming for children aged 6–16 in the rural farming town of about 7,600.
