Republican Scott Baugh did his best to give Rep. Katie Porter a run for her money in the Nov. 8 election for California’s 47th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Porter, a Democrat, is currently leading the race with 57.3 percent of the vote over conservative challenger Scott Baugh with 42.7 percent, according to preliminary results posted by the California Secretary of State.
In the June 7 state primary election, Porter received 52 percent of the vote followed by Baugh with 31 percent, and 17 percent going to other Republican candidates. Several media outlets have predicted Porter will win the possible swing district, but Cook Political Report’s House editor David Wasserman said in mid-October Porter could be in danger of losing her seat….
