The Kremlin said Tuesday that it was potentially waiting for a new “future Ukrainian president” more sympathetic to Russia’s conditions to begin peace talks.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said if the current President Volodymyr Zelenskyy did not agree to talks that ended in “achieving the conditions of the Russian side,” any resolution to ongoing fighting would be “absolutely impossible.”
The comments came after Zelenskyy signed a decree ruling out any direct talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
Peskov also commented on the announcement that Putin was expected to sign ratification treaties to complete the process of absorbing four regions of Ukraine, even as intense fighting continues to rage in those areas….
