Lawyers for Rep. Louis Gohmert (R-Texas) said in a court filing that a conversation with attorneys representing Vice President Mike Pence about the upcoming joint session of Congress, and whether Pence has the “exclusive authority” to approve or decline electoral votes, did not result in the issue being resolved. Gohmert and a host of others, including Republican electors in Arizona, filed a lawsuit against Pence this week, asking a court to give Pence “exclusive authority” to decide which Electoral College votes should be counted during the upcoming joint session of Congress.
