Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said that the House will not consider a bill to increase security for Supreme Court (SCOTUS) Justices until next week, despite calls in the Senate to streamline the bill after an armed man attempted to murder a justice.
On June 9, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) offered a unanimous consent request to advance the Senate-passed security bill, but Pelosi objected to the request.
During her weekly press conference, Pelosi explained her objection to the bill, saying the justices “are protected. It’s about staff and the rest … we’re working together on a bill which the Senate can approve of….
