A 75-year-old man in a motorized wheelchair was killed Dec. 29 after he was hit by a car while crossing the street in Santa Ana, California. The driver of a silver Toyota Prius was traveling northbound on Euclid Street, and approaching Second Street, when he collided with the man in the wheelchair at around 7:24 a.m. Santa Ana Police Department officers, responding to a call of a man down in the roadway, arrived on the scene to find the man suffering major injuries. “He was in critical shape,” Cpl. Anthony Bertagna told The Epoch Times. “They transported him to the hospital, and that’s when he died.” Bertagna said Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) personnel also responded to the scene and attempted lifesaving measures on the victim prior to his death.
