An antique shop owner from England has discovered that a customer’s painting purchased at a flea market was once stolen from a museum and is a rare collection of French artist Eugene Boudin, whose work has sold for 1.5 million pounds (approx. US$2.1 million). Old Bank Antiques’s boss Jon White said that the lady whom he acquired the painting from sold other items from her late father’s estate, too. According to Jon, the woman said her dad had bought the “Trouville—Scene de Plage” piece from a London flea market several years ago. “The signed picture looked special and I felt it was worth doing some research on it,” Jon said. “Clearly, we wanted to offer the customer a fair price so needed to spend some time finding out a little more about it and the artist who created it.” So he began his research by contacting the Richard Green Gallery …
