Oregonians are choosing candidates for six congressional districts for the first time in state history.
Following the 2020 Census, the state has been awarded a new congressional district for the first time in 42 years.
In Oregon’s new 6th District, state Rep. Andrea Salinas is the presumptive nominee with 38 percent of the vote count so far in a field of nine Democratic candidates.
One of the most expensive primaries in the nation, the contest for the open seat pitted the Congressional Hispanic Caucus’ campaign arm against House Democrats’ flagship super PAC, which is closely aligned with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
The race attracted more than $6 million in spending by a new cryptocurrency-backed super PAC known as Protect Our Future to support candidate Carrick Flynn, who conceded the race within hours of polls closing….
