New orders for U.S.-manufactured goods in November increased by about 1.6 percent to $532 billion, maintaining the streak which has been positive for the last 18 out of 19 months, although there was a decline in mining and oil field machinery, along with turbines, generators and other power transmission equipment. The latest numbers followed an increase of $6.4 billion in October or 1.2 percent from the previous month, according to a report published Thursday by the Census Bureau. The year-to-date change from 2020 indicated a 17.1 percent increase of $807 billion to a total of $5.5 trillion in 2021, while the value of total manufacturers’ shipments, new orders, unfilled orders, and total inventories went up by 12.9 percent.
