An Orange County congresswoman has been tapped to help U.S. Congress keep tabs on China’s international human rights standards compliance. Rep. Michelle Steel (CA-48) was recently appointed to a commission that tallies the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) human rights abuses on its own citizens and people in other countries. “We really have to watch what China is doing,” Steel told The Epoch Times. “When they are going wrong in directions, then we should let them know that you should stop abusing these people and harassing your own citizens.” Steel is the only freshman to the Congressional-Executive Commission on China. It consists of nine senators, house representatives, and five senior administration officials appointed by the president.
