Commentary When CNN asked U.S. President Joe Biden about his China policy during a televised event held in Milwaukee on Feb. 16, he said he couldn’t discuss it in just 10 minutes. Biden then made bizarre remarks. He not only misinterpreted Chinese history, but also justified Communist Party leader Xi Jinping’s authoritarian policies. The direction of the new administration’s China policy is truly concerning. Biden said, “If you know anything about Chinese history, it has always been—the time when China has been victimized by the outer world is when they haven’t been unified at home,” Biden said. “So the central—to vastly overstate it—the central principle of Xi Jinping is that there must be a united, tightly controlled China.
