The Oklahoma legislature has approved a bill that would make all abortions illegal, except in the case of a medical emergency to save the mother’s life. The bill now heads to Republican Gov. Kevin Stitt to be signed into law. The governor has previously said he would sign any pro-life bill that reaches his desk. Under SB 612, a person convicted of performing or trying to perform an abortion will be guilty of a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison, and/or a fine up to $100,000. The Oklahoma House gave final legislative approval on Tuesday, voting 70–14 in favor of the bill.
