The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program issue cannot be solved by executive order. Both Republicans and Democrats have avoided a comprehensive overhaul of our immigration policies and processes, but that is the only way this is going to get fixed. Former President Donald Trump offered to resolve DACA if the Democrats agreed to end chain migration and lottery immigration, but Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) would not compromise, so the deal died. It will require a bipartisan effort. Citizenship should never be gifted (yes, it is a gift, not a right) to anyone here illegally. As to DACA, there can be legal residency at best and there absolutely must be a cutoff date. Otherwise, this will be a huge incentive in perpetuity.
