Tuesday marks the official start of Mayor Bill de Blasio’s “Key to NYC” vaccine mandate. In theory, this puts restaurants, bars, gyms, and other venues off limits to the unvaccinated. To some, this is a welcome safeguard of their health; to others, it is a sign of expanding government control over their lives. Against the colorful and dynamic backdrops of Times Square and Broadway, I probed local New Yorkers as well as a few out-of-towners on their feelings toward New York City’s vaccine mandate. A rich, emotional tapestry from fear and frustration to relief and hope for better times ahead was on display. Hosted by NTD journalist Brendon Fallon, Wide Angle is following the latest political developments in the United States and abroad, and finding the connection between these and the larger global trends of our times.
