New York cut the state’s gas taxes by 16 cents a gallon on Wednesday.
The tax cut is aimed to give New Yorkers a little break as gas prices hit record highs around the country.
The reprieve  will last until the end of the year Gov. Kathy Hochul said, with the state is asking counties to consider doing the same.
Gasoline across the country has either remained flat or risen every day since April 24 and has set a new record daily since May 10, AAA says. The price per gallon is now above $4 in all 50 states.
