After the New York legislature rushed through legislation cracking down on gun ownership in response to the Supreme Court striking down the state’s tough concealed carry gun permitting system, state law enforcement officials condemned the new legislation they say will be difficult to enforce and may be unconstitutional.
“We do not support punitive licensing requirements that aim only to restrain and punish law-abiding citizens who wish to exercise their Second Amendment rights,” the New York State Sheriffs’ Association said in a statement available on its website.
