Times Square New Year’s Eve celebration co-organizers test the dropping ball at 10:30 a.m. ET on Dec. 30. They will light up the ball and send it to the 130-foot pole on top of the One Times Square building in New York.
The event co-organizers will flip a giant switch to initiate the ball’s kaleidoscope lighting effects.
The organizers said the ball is built with 32,256 energy-efficient LEDs and enhanced by 2,688 Waterford Crystal triangles. It can display a palette of over 16 million vibrant colors and billions of patterns, creating a kaleidoscope effect atop One Times Square.
