One Navy SEAL candidate died and a second was hospitalized after they completed the “Hell Week” that ends the first phase of assessment of the special operations force candidates. Naval Special Warfare Command said in a statement to news outlets on Feb. 4 that the SEAL candidate’s cause of death is not yet known. The injured candidate is in stable condition at the Naval Medical Center San Diego, officials said. “The Sailors were not actively training when they reported symptoms and were transported to receive emergency care,” the Navy said. The sailors were not named, and the name of the deceased SEAL candidate will not be released until 24 hours after his next-of-kin is notified, said the Navy. “My prayers are with the family and loved ones of the deceased during this very difficult time, and I wish for a full recovery of the other candidate reported injured yesterday,” House Rep.
