Federal prosecutors filed new tax and wire fraud charges on July 6 against Brian Kolfage, the veteran who raised funds online for the construction of a privately-funded border wall. The prosecutors charged Koflage with lying on his tax return and causing a wire transfer in connection with the same scheme. The Epoch Times sent a request for comment to Koflage’s attorney, Kenneth Harmon. The indictment alleges that Koflage misrepresented his income on both the original and amended 2019 tax returns. The original return claimed an income of $63,547 and the amended return claimed an income of $300,000. Both amounts were less than what Koflage actually earned, the complaint alleges.
