A township in Michigan announced schools would be closed on Monday after several staff members experienced a “negative reaction” to COVID-19 booster shots. In a statement posted on its website, Saginaw Township Community Schools said, due to staffing issues, the district would be closed on Monday. “A large number of our staff had a negative reaction to the COVID booster shot given at a voluntary clinic over the weekend,” the bulletin said. “There is a substitute teacher/staff shortage throughout the state, further complicating the availability to cover those absences.” In a Facebook response to a comment on Monday, the school system also said it is planning to open Tuesday.
