House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) on Monday tapped five House members to represent Republicans on the Democrat-led select committee investigating events at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6. McCarthy released his nominated members, selecting Rep. Jim Banks (R-Ind.), who chairs the conservative caucus Republican Study Committee, to be the top Republican on the committee. He also selected Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.), Rep. Kelly Armstrong (R-N.D.) and Rep. Troy Nehls (R-Texas) to serve on the panel. “I have accepted Leader McCarthy’s appointment to this committee because we need leaders who will force the Democrats and the media to answer questions so far ignored. Among them, why was the Capitol unprepared and vulnerable to attack on Jan. 6,” Banks said in a statement on Monday.
