Most Canadians oppose eliminating the “best before” dates on food packaging to reduce food waste, a recent survey shows.
The survey, co-conducted by the Agri-Food Analytics Lab at Dalhousie University and the Angus Reid Institute, found 30 percent of the 1,500 Canadians surveyed oppose removing the foods expiry date, while 32 percent say they strongly oppose doing so. A total of 27 percent said they would either support or strongly support eliminating those date labels.
Breaking down by province, Quebec showed the highest level of support for eliminating the “best before” date at 36 percent, followed by Saskatchewan at 28 percent. The lowest support was in Alberta, at 22 percent….
