A majority of U.S. citizens support the “Parental Rights in Education” bill that was recently passed in the state of Florida and signed into law by Gov. Ron DeSantis, according to a poll by Public Opinion Strategies. When presented with the actual language of the bill, the majority of respondents—irrespective of partisan divisions—supported it. “Classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation or gender identity may not occur in kindergarten through grade 3 or in a manner that is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards,” states the law, dubbed by critics as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill. Overall, 61 percent of survey respondents supported the bill while only 26 percent opposed it. Party-wise, 70 percent of Republican voters, 58 percent of Independent voters, and 55 percent of Democratic voters supported the bill.
