For the first time in 40 years, more than half of the British public are unsatisfied with the National Health Service (NHS), the UK’s longest running public opinion survey has found.
According to the latest British Social Attitudes (BSA) survey (pdf), published on Wednesday by The King’s Fund and Nuffield Trust, 51 percent of the respondents were dissatisfied with the NHS, the highest proportion since the annual survey began in 1983.
It’s mirrored by the overall satisfaction rate with the service, which fell to an all-time low at 29 percent, down from 36 percent in 2021.
Dissatisfaction with social care has also risen significantly, from 50 percent in 2021 to 57 percent in 2022. Only 14 percent of the respondents said they were satisfied….
