The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD)—the second largest school district in the United States—offered its teachers a calendar with year-round “queer and trans-affirming” activities and lesson plans for K–12 students.
First introduced during the 2020–2021 school year, the “Queer All School Year” calendar lists monthly activities instructors can use in their classrooms to show that “LAUSD’s got pride all year long.”
The publicly accessible document recently gained media attention after being reported June 30 by Parents Defending Education—a national nonprofit aimed at “empowering parents to advocate for classrooms that educate—not indoctrinate,” according to its website.
