Grammy award-winning violinist Gil Shaham will perform alongside the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra (LACO) in a virtual extravaganza March 26. As part of the LACO’s Close Quarters premium streaming series, audience members can take in a night of classical music performances set to compelling visual elements. “Gil Shaham’s virtuosic artistry, musical creativity and the unabashed joy he projects in his performances and recordings inspire audiences around the globe,” LACO executive director Ben Cadwallader, said in a statement. “We are particularly pleased to present his LACO debut in the intimate setting of LACO Close Quarters captured through the remarkable camera lens of cinematographer Michael Elias Thomas.” In the latest episode “Gil Shaham Plays Boulogne,” a pre-concert Zoom conversation will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by the premiered live event at 6:30 p.m. The legendary violinist makes his LACO debut as a guest soloist for the Chevalier de Saint-Georges’ Violin Concerto No. 9 and Arvo Pärt’s Fratres.
