LOS ANGELES—The total number of COVID-19 cases reported in Los Angeles was over 25,000 on Jan. 24, the lowest in the past six days, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. The county’s positivity rate remains at 13.5 percent. COVID-19 cases among healthcare workers and residents at skilled nursing facilities have dropped significantly for the past week compared to the previous week. As more COVID-19 boosters are administered to healthcare workers, new cases have dropped by 14 percent among residents at these facilities and 30 percent among staff members. County officials noted that a Feb. 1 deadline is approaching for all healthcare workers—who are required to get vaccinated against COVID-19—to receive a booster shot as well.
