IRVINE—A kitten in distress was rescued by the Irvine Police Dept. (IPD) and restored to health after being found in a plastic bag in a dumpster last month. A gardener near a dumpster at the Woodbury Walk Apartments heard meowing coming from inside when he first discovered the kitten Sept. 20. David Lim, an officer with the animal services department of the IPD, responded to the call and said he was uncertain of how long the fatigued kitten had been trapped. “The kitten was very lethargic and covered in urine, but it is unknown if she was that way prior to being placed in the bag,” IPD spokesperson Karie Davies told The Epoch Times. Rushed to Irvine Animal Care Center, the kitten received life-saving treatment and veterinary care for three weeks.
